History of Mumbai Indians
In 2008, The Reliance Industries Ltd. owned by Mukesh Ambani purchased the franchise of a team in IPL for 10 years, which represents the state Mumbai and named the team as ‘Mumbai Indians.’ The Mumbai franchise bought many star international cricketers. Sachin Tendulkar was announced as the captain of the team, however he got injured and Harbhajan Singh became the captain and former cricketer Lalchand Rajput was appointed as the head coach. The team started the season very badly but later on they struggled to put up consistent performance. In 2009, this team finished the IPL season on seventh place in the points table. During 2010, Mumbai Indians had to shift their home ground to Brabourne Stadium from Wankhede Stadium as at that time Wankhede stadium was undergoing renovation. This team became the most successful team of IPL and won the tournament title for four times in 2013 against Chennai Super Kings, 2015 against Chennai Super Kings, 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiant and 2019 again against Chennai Super Kings.
